Guy’s 3×1 – Great North Swim
As part of the ‘Lifestyle’ programme of the 153 Mile Challenge Guy Christiansen will be participating in three charity challenges. Guy intends to raise over £1K for three charities close to his heart, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Clatterbridge Hospice – Liverpool and the NSPCC.
Guy said about his plans:
“Over the last ten years i have undertaken numerous charitable challenges including half marathons, long distance cycles and mountain climbs and raised over £20K for various charities. This year i intend to climb, cycle and swim.
I am currenlty preparing for the Great North Swim in windermere which takes place over the weekend of the 22nd June and involves a 1 mile swim around the lake. I have never swam in the wild and as one of my numerous ‘must do things on the Bucket list’ i thought i would jump in (pardon the pun) with a loads of other swimmers at a massive public event.
To be honest i always thought i was a particulalry strong swimmer, until i started training for this and i now realise it will take a fair bit of effort. Currently i am able to swim approx 25 lengths without stopping or touching the sides – i need to be able to do 60 before the 22nd June. I will keep you posted…”
